Drag them off the menu, its instead of pressing G or N for Guild or Friends lists etc... Click Menu, theyer on there, you can drag them off, to where-ever you wish

Being addicted means not being able to stop for 2 days, without going mental. Try it?

Ask most people I play with, they have done it too, 2/3 days solid (with the odd 20 minute break for toilet and food)

Addiction isn't statistical, it's theoretically possible to play all day with nothing else and not be an addict (you have to do something during the day, after all). It's more dependent on how easily you could choose to do something else.
Granted, that is alot of hours

i've only got about 1100 hours since release (17 months). That works out to around 2 hours a day. I play more on weekends because I actually have a bit of time then, because on weekdays I'm full up on college and work...
6k hours is a bit much though. I have trouble getting in as much as i do already.

Compare that to...
6,000 hours of drinking yourself silly or 6,000 hours doped up on whatever. It is a lot of hours playing a game, but it could be worse.

QFT. People dont ever think about the negative things either, sure theres alot of other hobbies out there good and bad but if it's something you like then do it, who cares what someone else thinks or says? I personally have ~2500 hours in game over 16 months. I have other hobbies as well, people in my guild all know about them (restoring and racing old volkswagens) but the problem is, sometimes a video game, like guild wars is needed simply because it's cheaper to have at times. I'm currently in college full time student so I don't have money flowing like when i was working full time as a mechanic or out at the petrol plants, so my main hobby is inhibited due to lack of monetary flow. And as Memnon stated, there are far worse ways to blow 6000 hours and people want to bag on others who have alot of hours in a game??? I say congrats, you found something you like stick with it and have fun, things could be worse but at least they aren't a junkie.

Here's the true test:
Take a week off. If you find that you experience mood swings, depression, or the inability to think of anything besides GW, you might have a dependency on the game. I'm not an expert or anything, but taking a week off to see what it feels like wouldn't hurt.

DO YOU think you're addicted?
One way to gauge this is to ask yourself, "Would I rather be playing Guild Wars?" the next time you find yourself doing something fun with friends or family. Because if nothing else in life measures up to the feelings you get while playing Guild Wars, you're probably addicted.
On the other hand, if you're like me, you just play Guild Wars because you have nothing better to do. This involves a lot of time AFK, a lot of time spent in outposts fiddling around with your skills trying to find new builds that sometimes you may not even use, and ends when you finally decide to go do a mission or play a few pvp games and then you get so bored that you log off immediately afterwards. I spend maybe 3-4 hours a day logged into Guild Wars in this fashion, and only about 30-45 minutes of it are spent playing the mission at the end.

i'll admit that on the ODD night i left it AFK for a few hours (never over night whilst I slept) and no, i dont work or go to school, im 24, and im a carer for my disabled mother
I play other games, and run various other online things, working it out, its not that much... ((24 * 30) * 17) = 12,240
(for thoes not mathematically minded, thats 24 hours (1 day), Multiplied by 30 (30 days average in a month) multiplied by 17 for 17 months played)
so almost 6000 hours, out of over 12000 doesnt seem too much to me, it equates to about 6440 hours not played,
which is.. ((6440 / 17) / 30)) = 12.62 hours (6440 hours, devided by 17 months, by 30 days,) which is 12.62 hours NOT played.. which is 11.3 hours per day...
out of thoes 11 hours per day, i'd say 2 were spent AFK (at MOST)
so thats 9 hours true.. which would still ammount to 4,590 hours over 17 months, actual PLAY time.. (none AFK)
any ways, I have give up GW for a few weeks, I got sick of the noob HA groups..
I used to have a group all the time, but got bored of the same FOTM builds, should start playing again (not played for almost 3 weeks) now its on 6 v 6
again xD

No, I don't think you are addicted. If you can leave the game for weeks without withdrawlsymptoms, your not.
Being a carer for a disabled person is quite often boring and requires you to be in the house at all times. It means being there for that person when they need you, even if those times are few and far inbetween, or short.
I don't think those comments of 'get a life' are fair, carers quite often simply don't have that luxury.
You have found a way to keep yourself entertained to alleviate the boredom, a way to socialise without leaving the house and a way to keep your mind active, since GW is a game that requires a lot of thinking.
However, if you feel you are spending too much time in the game, then find something else to do. Maybe an online course or evening university.
Is there anybody who can take over from you every once and a while, so you can go out and socialise in real life, if you don't do that already?
But again, if you can walk away from the game for 3 weeks, and in the situation you are in, I do not think you are addicted, you are just trying to keep yourself occupied in a difficult situation

Although the time you psend on Guild Wars counts, there are other things that can tell you your an addict. Do you rave about Guild Wars? Is it always on your mind? Do you plan your charcters moves everyday?
Ask yourself stuff like that, and then you'll know
BTW im an addict, i asked myself those questions, i answered no to most but thats cause im an gaming addict, not Guild Wars, ive only clocked a feeble 531 hours in 16 months.

5000 hours amounts to 208 days of solid 24 hour gw gaming. i'd say if you're not addicted then you are certainly missing something from your life to spend all that time on a game.
to play 208 days solid out of 19 or so months cant be healthy
